BYOD gate security: guards on their own phones
Society guards already carry smartphones. BYOD gate security uses those phones for QR visitor scanning instead of buying another hardware kit.

BYOD (bring your own device) gate security means the guard’s own smartphone is the scanner. There is no society-owned tablet to buy, lose, share, or leave unlocked in the cabin. For RWAs that still treat “gate security” as a hardware purchase, that is the main cost and ops difference.
What the guard actually does
- Scan a resident-issued QR visitor pass
- Approve or reject the entry
- Look up a vehicle number against society records
- Receive SOS alerts from residents
GateFlow’s security app is that job list. Access is role-based: guards see gate work, not invoices. In-app messaging is end-to-end encrypted. Society data is stored in India.
What BYOD is not
BYOD is not “put the society WhatsApp group on the guard’s phone.” Informal chat is not an audit trail. It is also not a biometric attendance kit. If you need fingerprint devices for contractor payroll, that is a different product. GateFlow’s claim is narrower and operational: visitor QR, vehicle lookup, SOS, digital log — live in minutes, ₹0 gate hardware.
Compare the path on use cases and pricing. Hardware-heavy systems can still make sense for some campuses. For a typical apartment society, the constraint is usually time and committee bandwidth, not a missing tablet.
